B(L)ACK in San Francisco

This project spotlights the legacy of black creatives that have lived, worked, studied
or incubated in San Francisco, CA.

Bringing The Narrative of
Black Creativity Back to The City.

We aren’t going to go into the details of all the reasons why San Francisco’s population of Black folks is below 6%. Instead we are going to amplify the history, the memories and the transformative times by holding space for our voices and our stories.

B(L)ACK in San Francisco is an archive for all of us that has experienced the city. Whether we lived there, worked there, went to school there, created there —— the point is that San Francisco has made an impact on us just as we have made an impact on it.

In the linage of Black storytelling and creativity in San Francisco
— this project is a spring board, an archive and love letter (of sorts) 🖤

This archive is an act of oral history.
